first baptist camden welcomes

scott lee and Cherie

We are excited to have Scott and Cherie Lee step into a temporary position in Worship Leadership. Scott’s first day as Interim Minister of Music is February 12. He just completed a 10 year tenure as the Minister of Music and Worship Arts at Shandon Baptist Church in Columbia.  He has served churches in Florida, Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina.  He also worked as National Church Sales Manager for Integrity Media and owned a Real Estate firm in Fairhope AL.  He has most recently taken the position of Chief Administrative Officer at the South Carolina Baptist Convention, serving on the Executive Leadership Team with responsibility over Operations, HR and Convention committees.

Scott is originally from Pensacola FL and did his undergraduate work at William Carey College in Hattiesburg MS and the University of West Florida in Pensacola FL where he graduated with a degree in Vocal Performance.  He and his wife, Cherie, traveled several years leading Continental Singers, a Christian vocal group that traveled world-wide, prior to attending Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft Worth TX.  They have been married 40 years and have two children, Taylor (engaged to Daniel with a wedding date of April 25 and works with a hospital foundation) and Tanner (married 3+ years to Abby and lives in Austin TX where he serves as Student Pastor at a large church).

In talking with Scott, here is his heart… “It is my hope and expectation that when we have the privilege of meeting together for worship, it is much about God and little about me.  What an opportunity it is to lock hearts together spending time worshiping at the throne!”
